- Bear Hug supports wellbeing, but it is not a medical service and not for emergencies.
- Your mood check-ins and journals are stored locally on your device by default.
- Cloud backup and sync are optional and available via an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly).
- Subscriptions are managed and billed by Apple App Store or Google Play.
- We use Firebase and Google Analytics only to operate and improve the App.
- We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
Information We Collect
A) Information you provide
- Mood check-ins and optional notes.
- Journal entries (free-text content).
B) Information collected automatically
- Device and app information (device type, OS version, app version, language).
- Analytics and diagnostics (usage patterns, session data, crashes), via Firebase Analytics / Crashlytics.
C) Information for sign-in and subscriptions
If you enable cloud backup/sync, you may sign in using Apple or Google. We receive technical identifiers required for authentication and subscription validation.
We do not receive your full payment details. Billing information is handled directly by Apple or Google in accordance with their privacy policies.
D) What we do not collect
- No ads or advertising identifiers.
- No real names, addresses, or phone numbers required.
- No breathing or wellness session text content.
How We Use Information
- To provide core app functionality.
- To enable optional cloud backup/sync for subscribed users.

Storage & Sync
Local-first storage
Your data is stored locally unless you enable cloud backup. If you uninstall the App without an active subscription, your local data may be permanently deleted.
Cloud backup & sync (subscription)
Cloud backup and sync are available only with an active subscription. Data is stored using Firebase infrastructure and associated with your Apple or Google account.
Subscriptions
Bear Hug offers optional monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscriptions for cloud backup and sync.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions via your App Store or Google Play account.
- We do not control billing, refunds, or payment methods.
Data Retention
- Local data: until deleted or app uninstall.
- Cloud data: until deleted by the user or subscription ends.
- Analytics: retained per service provider policies.
Your Choices & Rights
- Use the App anonymously.
- Delete local or cloud data anytime.
- Cancel subscriptions via app store settings.
Children
Bear Hug is for users aged 13+. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, but no system is completely secure.
